Besides the ascetic negatives that come from the trailers, they pose a hazard due to the winds we have here in Granada Hills. They get blown over and block lanes which can result in injuries. The same seems to happen with basketball backboards in the winds.
Graffiti has been on the rise over the past several years and has been becoming a real issue. We need it off the streets and covered up, that is unless we want to invite the gang and territory problems that plague the rest of the city into Granada Hills.
Has anyone proposed the idea of volunteer groups/days for the city where we can work as a community to beautify our city? Having simple cleanup days for our neighborhoods would be a great help, the resources are there lets get it done. As days get tougher and the city uses the economic crisis as an excuse to cut our funds, we have to become more self reliant and get things done ourselves.
The ten years I have lived in this city, I was unaware that we even had a neighborhood council until I actively searched for it. The same goes for many of my neighbors. Schools and community business's/programs should be taken advantage of as information outlets and co-operative units to improve the city.
