The Granada Hills South Neighborhood Council is always looking at improving what we already do for the community. Now with these difficult days upon us, and the city not having all the resources they used to have. What would you like for our council to try and help with?

I appreciate your work on Graffiti, billboard/graffiti, illegal signs, and in general keeping an eye out for redevelopments that may hurt the community that we love. Thank you. Personally, I am active reporting the graffiti, illegal ads, and more recently the advertising trailers. On the advertising trailers, is there anything that can be done with the expediting the reporting. Currently, where I can I report them as illegally parked trailers where signs are posted "no unhitched trailers"; however, the majority I report as abondoned vehicles (72 hours conscutive parking). This takes 2 weeks for the vehicle to "get marked" and then another 2 weeks for the vehicle to get removed (if not longer). Can you help with this?

Thanx, Danny. I'm glad to see I'm not the only 'whistleblower' on illegally parked vehicles. There are several in my neighborhood that also pull old trailers. Now THAT will make a prospective homebuyer take notice! I've complained to the
PD, who transferred me to Parking Enforcement, to Abandoned Vehicles, to the D.O.T. (who were extremely rude).
It appears that they never get towed or even ticketed.....as long as they move their junk on street-cleaning day for a few hrs. They move it right back that evening for another 6 days.

So far the best solution I have found is the "No unhitched trailers" parking enforcement signs. Parking enforcement will immediately cite the trailer. How can we get more of these signs posted around our neighborhood?

Unfortunately, these aren't unhitched.

I think the best option is to call them in as soon as the vehicle returns.

First post :) Besides the ascetic negatives that come from the trailers, they pose a hazard due to the winds we have here in Granada Hills. They get blown over and block lanes which can result in injuries. The same seems to happen with basketball backboards in the winds.

Graffiti has been on the rise over the past several years and has been becoming a real issue. We need it off the streets and covered up, that is unless we want to invite the gang and territory problems that plague the rest of the city into Granada Hills.

Has anyone proposed the idea of volunteer groups/days for the city where we can work as a community to beautify our city? Having simple cleanup days for our neighborhoods would be a great help, the resources are there lets get it done. As days get tougher and the city uses the economic crisis as an excuse to cut our funds, we have to become more self reliant and get things done ourselves.

The ten years I have lived in this city, I was unaware that we even had a neighborhood council until I actively searched for it. The same goes for many of my neighbors. Schools and community business's/programs should be taken advantage of as information outlets and co-operative units to improve the city.

I've also been fighting graffiti and so far I've been pretty happy with the city services. I have only had 2 issues from hundreds of requests. The 2 links to know are:

http://www.dot.ca.gov/maintform.html
http://anti-graffiti.lacity.org/index.c ... pengriform

All we have to do is report it ASAP and they'll take care of it ussually within 48 hours.

On the trailer issue, I agree with you. It is also a hazard. This may enough to get "no unhitched trailer" parking signs up.

I spoke to the guy when he was moving his old truck and trailer about 3wks. ago. He said that he was looking for a place to store them within a month. Haven't seen them in 2wks. YAHOOOOOOO!!!
I wasn't overbearing and he wasn't a jerk. Glad things worked out. Maybe my neighbors (who were trying to sell) will get a better price now.
