As you may have heard, LA City Attorney Mike Feuer has recently launched a series of school safety community hearings in partnership with LAUSD, in the wake of the school shootings in Florida and the one here at Sal Castro Middle School. We’re examining what’s being done now – both on-campus and in surrounding neighborhoods – and what can be improved upon. These meetings are anchored by our very prestigious Blue Ribbon Panel – experts in a variety of fields. Among our panelists is former LA Councilmember Greig Smith.
Our next meeting is Saturday at Valley Academy of Arts and Sciences, 2-4. This is for community leaders such as yourselves, parents, teachers, students, etc., and this weekend, we’ll be looking at gun violence and how to prevent kids from getting access to guns.
We hope you can join us. We’ll have expert presenters, questions from our Blue Ribbon Panel, community input and refreshments too. The school is located at 10445 Balboa Blvd, Granada Hills, 91344 and you can park in the structure located in the alley on the south side of the school (between the school and Pizza Cookery). And please feel free to share this information among your constituency.
We look forward to seeing you Saturday at this important meeting.
